Welcome to the Corio/Norlane Regeneration Blog. This site is dedicated to the journaling of the Corio/Norlane Education Regeneration Project in the Northern Geelong region of Victoria, Australia.
This Blog should be read in conduction with the planning Corio/Norlane Regeneration planning WIKI as this contains draft planning documents for the project.
The Corio/Norlane regeneration project seeks to redress the disadvantage that comes with low educational outcomes in schools located in low socio-economic areas of Geelong and offers a radical plan that seeks to firstly engage K-12 students and then to challenge them with a learning design that encourages higher order thinking and the development of 21st Century skills that will ensure that they are job and higher education ready at the completion of their studies.
The pedagogy chosen for the project is Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The PBL methodology has been specifically designed for school students and is highly integrated with Information Communication Technologies. This particular model has been trialled in three secondary colleges in the northern Geelong region over the past three years and has proven its ability to engage the current cohorts of students.
The project is an exciting and radical departure from traditional pedagogical practices that have been found wanting across the world. Please keep an (RSS) eye on this Blog and the WIKI and follow the progress, successes and challenges along the way.
